In retrospect, the sales period for the Brightvision buses was quite short. For 18 months collectors had access to the cars before they were no longer available. Here’s a chronicle of benchmark events associated with the BV RLBB.
- January 2000 – Initial project plan built
- February 2000 – Modeling begins
- June 2000 – Tooling begins
- August 2000 – Injection molded plastic parts are run (windshields, interiors and surfboards)
- October 2000
- Die cast parts run (body and base)
- Assembly tests begin
- Donor car acquisition begins for wheels and axles
- November 2000
- Die cast parts plated
- Paint tests begin
- January 2001 – Spectraflame paint colors formulated
- February 2001
- Buses painted
- Buses assembled
- April 2001 – Alpha text base and blank base launched at Nationals in Chicago
- November 2001 – design work on Omega begins
- December 2001 – tooling changes for Omega complete
- January 2002 – Omega die cast body run
- April 2002 – Omega Text base and blank base launched at Nationals in Reston
- October 2002 – Alpha and Omega text base variations no longer offered
- March 2003 – Brightvision operations cease
